Diario de gassenins, 16 jun. 21

Entered my first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competition in Boise, Idaho at age 43, 162 lbs. I've been training off and on for 3.5 years now. Tapped a guy out by landing a cool judo throw, sending him flying over my head and then doing a guillotine choke. Then got bloodied and tapped out by a guy way more skilled and stronger than me!

All in all, by placing 2nd in my division I couldn't have asked for a better result: I won a fight by using solid techniques, then got beat in an awesome match by someone who truly deserved the gold, helping me set further training and fitness goals.

And I wouldn't be here today without FatSecret! When I started training I could go max 3x a week. I would go home and pass out after struggling to fight with 45lbs of dead weight on my body. Today I go 7x a week and easily hold my own against taller and stronger 25 year olds. I feel like I've found the fountain of youth.

Before: 205 lbs on 8/5/2019
After: 161 lbs on 6/16/2021 (gee, you think BJJ is good for your core? LOL)

Final goal: 155 lbs, 8% body fat (need to do calisthenics and bulk up after hitting 150 lbs!)

nice job i train hapkido and have for 25+ years since i was in the military and eating and lifting has made my throws locks and submissions so much stronger and harder for people to defend against keep it up man great job

Looks like a late night TV commercial, except it's real. Very inspiring, thank you and congratulations. Do you feel better in your head too? I am trying to lose weight, but often wonder why. I don't really care about health, but maybe I hope it will make me happier.

Wow everyone...I didn't expect so much support, thank you! I really just want to get the word out there, that FatSecret and CICO simply works. Honestly I don't think I'm hot shit: I'm middle aged, shorter than average, underpaid, etc etc. BUT, I feel way better about myself now, than when this journey began. There's simply so much mass marketing these days, designed to make you feel perfectly okay about where you are, despite the fact that every cell in your body is telling you that you AREN'T okay, and want to change. CHANGE IS POSSIBLE. PEOPLE CHANGE. However, its freaking hard and takes work!

Jimmiepop, My trick has been to take it easy in the beginning, listen to my body, and use the MASSIVE calorie burn from moving my own fat around to burn it off. But working out alone wont cut it, early on I ate just as much (or more) as I burned from BJJ. ---- Chose your partners carefully, ease into it, and keep your expectations reasonable. Discretion is the better part of valor! Your muscles will get stronger much more quickly than your joints and tendons. But as the weight loss snowballs, training will get easier. ---- THE WORST THING YOU CAN DO: put off training because "you have to get in shape first." That's like not going to school because you have to get smart first.
