I’m curious if I change from Keto diet to more balanced diet if that will help or hurt my weight loss. I’m losing but I’m not exactly enjoying not having veggies. I have live without the processed products for 6 weeks now, I think I’ve cleansed my pallet of those desirables. But I find I miss veggies, but they are typically high in carbs. So, I will need to find the right balance. Has anyone tried the FatSecret Balanced food plans or any of the food plans. I’m thinking of giving it a go, but I am not completely sold. Any advice?

Read up on carbohydrates. They are not all the same in their carb content. Choose less starchy vegetables like zucchini, green beans, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage. Eat the ones like potatoes in moderation and with portion control in mind. Also read up on resistant starches.

It is possible to lose weight on pretty much any diet. Mostly it is the exclusion of the things that you stop eating, that causes the loss. So for example on a Keto diet it is not eating carb-containing food that causes the loss, on a balanced or carb heavy diet, it is the exclusion of the meats and cheeses etc. that changes the scale. The best way I think is to consider what is healthy in the first instance, and then the weight loss will follow, if you are in a calorie deficit. Personally I've been on a whole foods plant based diet (no fat) and have lost 6 pounds in the first month. More importantly, it has brought down my blood pressure - which had been elevated - to normal levels; 110 over 76 this morning.

Eating low carb or keto doesn't have to mean no veggies, unless you are doing carnivore. Add in your leafy greens and other non starchy veggies a bit at a time and see how it goes. Do you subtract your fiber and go by net carbs? If so, you will find that you can have a good amount of veggies!

I go with “ I do what I want” love keto... it works, love Mediterranean, LFHP, LCHF. Love to order in here and there. Will never give up hamburger helper ( really delicious and healthy with ground venison)

My Dr. mentioned to start a Mediterranean lifestyle 2 years ago and Red 🍷. I have not had wine in a bit, but red has health benefits to it and pairs nicely with fish, lamb, seafood, veggies. I do it all.

I don't do Keto because it's usually high in fat - or it would be if I were to stick to it. I actually need a low fat diet because of gallbladder and other issues. I was successful when I followed a diet with little to no processed foods. I didn't worry about the carbs in plants, but if you do, maybe avoid the starchy vegetables like corn and peas.

My doctor told me that if I was worrying about the carbs in my vegis, then I was missing the point. That said, she also suggested that I look at the high fiber vegis and vegis that are mostly water to figure out what works for me (subtracting fiber from carbs for daily net carbs). I'm still in the beginning of my weight loss but I have a big 4 cup salad 3-4 times a week, lots of zucchini, cucumber, summer squash, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. Smaller amounts of tomatoes and carrots. I stay away from the high-carb starchy things like potatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, etc. Good luck in finding out what works for you.

Thanks for the advice. I don’t have issues staying away from starches. I definitely like spinach, broccoli, cauliflower etc. I am trying to keep with the 30 netC. but some days...I just let it all go.
