Hey all! Sorry for the lack of updates lately. My scale batteries died and I've been too lazy to replace them so I haven't had a weigh in for a while. I'm pretty sure I'm maintaining around 190ish.

So as some of you know, I've been attempting to recover from a knee injury. I have patella tendonitis in my right knee, so running downhill has been pretty bothersome. I've been slowly increasing my mileage back up trying to focus completely on form and not worry about speed. This seems to be helping, especially with any downhill portions of my runs. I still get soreness after my runs, but with ice and some ibuprofen I'm good as new the next day.

This Monday I'll be starting my half marathon training plan for my trail run in August. I'm going to try to find some good trails around here to prep myself as well, along with some new trail running shoes! I'm hoping my knee will hold up through the training and I can compete in my first half marathon.

Next Sunday I have my second mud race, Warrior Dash! This race is only a 5K, which is good for my knee, but I'm really excited to have fun with some muddy obstacles again. If any of you love running and obstacles, I really suggest you try to find a mud run like this around you. They are so much fun.

So as far as lifting goes, I have been taking it much more serious lately. I joined a neat site called fitocracy. It's a website game where you track your workouts, and "level-up" based on what you do and different "quests" or goals you complete. It's pretty neat because it tracks PR's too! If you want an invite let me know and I can send one over.

So recently I've been trying out some new supplements...I got a new multivitamin, a thermogenic, and a new preworkout supplement, along with creatine. My gains so far have been amazing and I'm hitting new personal records every week. Here's a list of what I'm taking now:

1. Opti-men multivitamins
2. GNC Green Tea Extract
3. Jack3D pre-workout.
4. Micronized Creatine
5. Recreate by USPLabs thermogenic
6. Whey Protein Isolate

I hope everyone is doing well, and I've been checking through your journals every day but I've been pretty busy lately and haven't been able to post very many responses, so I apologize! You guys are awesome and I hope you all have a great week!

Well, some bad news today...I injured my knee a few weeks ago. I was getting a sharp pain on the outside of my kneecap on my right knee after running. Afterwards it would hurt walking up or down stairs. I ignored it and took every other day off thinking it would go away. Unfortunately it has not, and it is now worse. Talking to a few friends in med school about the injury and they said its either iliotibial band syndrome or popliteal tenosynovitis.

Thankfully, both of these injuries are something that don't require any surgery to heal. I just have to take ibuprofen, ice it, and rest. The amount of rest is the answer no one seems to have though. It can be anywhere from a few days, to a few weeks, to a couple months. I'm going to get a knee brace for my race this sunday, and stay off of it as much as I can before then. The race Sunday is only a 5K so hopefully I'll be able to push through if I have problems. Afterwards, if the knee is still an issue, I'm going to rest a week before the Pittsburgh Marathon Relay. If the knee still hurts after that, I have 2 weeks off before Warrior's Dash, and so on, and so forth. I have no races after Warrior's Dash until late August, so I will try resting atleast 3 weeks after Warrior's Dash if the issue is still there.

Matt was right in the respect that I wouldn't gain any weight since I exercised so much, even though I binged like a mad man. I stepped on the scale today and I'm still at 190. Since I'm not going to be doing much cardio for a while, I'm going to have to go back to dieting to make up for it. Yesterday I stayed right around 2000 which is where I want to be. Anywhere between 1600 and 2000 is my goal until I can get back to running, so I'll be logging my calories again.

Have a great Thursday everyone!

Not sure why I did it, but these last 2 weeks were an example of why I was so heavy in the first place. Binge eating for no reason, eating foods I haven't touched in MONTHS, eating when already stuffed....I'm not sure what came over me. I feel horrible right now, and I won't dare step on a scale for at least another week. I realized today that maintnence is much harder than trying to lose weight. I do want to get to the 180-185 range, so I will be trying to lose again, but once I get to 180 I need to have a plan. I went in thinking I could eat what I want again no problems, it's not going to work that way.

Today is different. Today is a fresh start again. I'm not going to let this slip up ruin everything I've worked SO hard for.

Exercise, however, I have been keeping up with. Running is still a passion of mine, though these eating habits lately have made me sick. I skipped lifting weights all last week. Probably was not a good idea. But, some good news. I took gerdik's advice and ordered Jack3D. I'll be using this in place of N.O. Xplode. I also ordered some unflavored micronized creatine. I also ordered something which I'm not sure I'm going to take yet. It's a fat burner from the same people that make Jack3D. They suggest it as a fat burning stack. It's called Recreate. It's not loaded with caffeine, so I think it will be safe enough to take. I'm going to give it a shot to give me a little extra boost.

Well, race-wise things have been pretty active. Last Saturday I ran a 5K race around my area. The first half was all down hill, the second half was ALLLLL up hill. It was brutal. I finished in 26:49 and came in 24th out of 85. This weekend I have the Race for the Cure down in Pittsburgh, it's a huge event. Supposively over 2,500 people in the 5K timed race. Not going for any PR there. Next Saturday I have the Pittsburgh Marathon Relay I'm doing for work. My leg is the longest, 6.2 miles, a 10K. I'm pretty confident I'll break my 53:17 PR from my last 10K.

Have a great week everyone!
