Good morning all! Still incredibly sore. Having a hard time even walking right now. For some strange reason I thought it would be a good idea to sign up for a 10K Saturday still. My diet suffered horribly over the weekend, but with the amount of calories I burned on Sunday, I'm sure I'll be fine in a couple days. Found out some neat statistics from the race this weekend. Five thousand people competed Saturday, 76% finished. Five thousand people competed Sunday, 73% finished.

Here is a rundown of the course that was released:

Breakdown:

1. Braveheart Charge - First event, at the start line you go charging down a hill with tons of mud and snow, very hard to get any footing at all.

2. The Gauntlet - When you get to the bottom of the hill from the Braveheart Charge yo have to do a U-Tuwn and run UP the mountain in snow and mud with a snow machine blowing in your face! This is following by making another U-Turn down a similar hill.

3. Death March - This one SUCKED! You start at the bottom of the hill and have to run all the way up the mountain, was almost impossible to run up.

4. Sweaty Yeti - At the top of the mountain you go under a cargo net to climb up the snow and mud covered mountain that seemed to be almost a 90 degree incline at that point.

5. Devil's Beard - Another cargo net crawl, this time downhill. At this point you run down the mountain, then onto a slip and slide into a pool of mud, freezing cold.

6. Cliff Hanger - By far the steepest part of the mountain, you had to climb all the way up. Pretty much had to follow everyone else's divots or you were falling down the hill.

Next is a short jog to...

7. Berlin Walls - These were 3 sets of 10 foot wooden walls that you have to climb over. Teamwork was pretty huge here unless you have a good amount of upper body strength.

8. Boa Constrictor - This was where I first started developing my battle wounds. These were two tiny tunnels you had to crawl through filled with ice, jagged rocks, and mud. Between the two tunnels there was a 3 foot deep puddle that you ultimately had to dive into while getting blasted by a snow making machine, then you had to go through the second tunnel.

9. Log Bog Jog - By this point you were pretty wet and muddy and you had to go on a 2 mile trail run with jagged rocks everywhere and logs and trees across the trails that you had to scale. Pretty fun little run, definitely had to pay attention.

10. Blood Bath - Oh god, this was brutal. So you exit the woods and run across the street and there are two containers. One with red peppers, one with orange peppers. Both were Habenero peppers, the orange were the hottest, I chose the orange. After you down the pepper you have to jump into a dumpster filled with red dye, ice, and water.

After this you had to scale a 12 foot high Berlin wall, then you ran down a hill and crawled back up a hill under a cargo net, like another Devil's Beard.

Next you run down a hill and over 3 more sets of a metal type of wall. That led up to...

11. Walk the Plank - This obstacle was climbing up a small rope assisted wall, where a marine stood at the top. The marine then yelled "GET OFF MY PLANK!" and you jump 20 feet into 37 degree water. This was by far the worst part for me. When you hit the water your heart rate spikes so much that you completely lose your breath and you gasp for air. You then have to swim to a booey, and back out of the water.

12. Ball Shrinker - This was a rope going across another pond, we laid on our backs and pulled ourselves through the water, very gooed, but not very challenging.

13. Twinkle Toes - On Saturday, this was a balance beam under water, but the lines were so long they switched it up on us for Sunday. We had to go under 3 wooden walls completely submerged in the water.

14. Cool Runnings - Now after you're all nice and wet you have to go on a 3 mile jog in the woods again with tons of jagged rocks. At this point we had a team member gettings bad cramps. We waited around for a bit but me and a friend decided to push forward to avoid cramping and wait for them at the next obstacle.

15. Mud Mile - This was a stretch of trenches filled with mud that you couldnt see that bottom. They were filled with jagged rocks. It was about 75 yards of this.

16. Underwater Tunnels - These were a set of logs marked under and over where you had to alternate going under them, completely submerged in the mud, then over them.

17. Funky Monkey - This was an incline/decline monkey bar with a small puddle underneath if you fell. We heard horror stories of many broken ankles on Saturday and decided it is really not worth the risk, this was the only event we skipped.

18. Greased Lightning - Sit on your butt, and slide down a snow bank, reeeeeeeeeeeally cold.

19. Kiss of Mud - This obstacle is where I got the rest of my battle wounds. You had to military crawl under barbed wire through sharp rocks, mud, and water for 50 feet. Very painful...

20. Fire Walker - This actually felt great, you basically run about 20 yards through sets of engulfed flames on each side.

21. Hold Your Wood - This was an obstacle where you had to pick up a large log and carry it half way up the mountain and back down. Our team picked up a large team log, but since we had so many people, I picked up my own. Of course I picked up waaaay too big of a log, about 60-70 pounds. If a guy picked up a small log though, it was an invitation for everyone to make fun of you, and it was encouraged. I definitely did not get made fun of haha.

22. Spider's Web - After we dropped the log, we had to run back up another hill, and hit a cargo net that was about 15-20 feet tall. I actually struggled with this event and almost fell backwards at the top. Could of been very bad, but I was able to regain my grip and make it over.

23. Evil Knieval - This was a 20 foot ramp that was almost impossible to do by yourself. There was only 1 small PVC pipe on the hardest side, which our team chose. We used a tactic of boosting up on eachothers shoulders and climbing up. Definitely was not easy.

24. Hay Bale Pyramid - Basically run down the hill and there are two large hay bales that you had to scale over, then jump back over on the other side.

Next you take one more jog up to the top of the mountain where obstacle number 25 was...

25. Electroshock Therapy - Oh boy, this event, was....INSANE. So there was about 10 yards of dangling wires. Some of them were dead, some of them were alive with 10,000 volts, but you didn't know which ones. We went in sets of two's through the obstacle. We had a strategy to avoid getting hit in the face which consisted of us making an X with our arms in front of our faces and sprinting through it. Well, that didn't work for me. I got his in the jaw with 10,000 volts and I felt my face tighten up and my teeth began to hurt. It was intense to say the least.

After that obstacle we ran down the hill, through the mud, and crossed the finish line to get our orange headbands...what a rush!
